Grand Central

Yesterday we took a field trip to Grand Central. I found the underground platforms to be where I got my best shots. Using shorter shutter speeds create the darker photos I like and in this case, created abstractions with the lights and piping. I did manage to take a long exposure in
the main terminal...

hey mike. i was meaning to tell you this during class but you ran off so quickly.

i think that you've got a great eye for minimalist photographs, like the last two you photographed. just little shapes or figures poking out from the darkness, i could totally see you doing a whole series just like that. just a thought :)

Do you like Batman? You seem to be loving darkness a lot!
Getting the right exposures in such lighting conditions is really tough and you get passed that hurdle well, every single time.

Oh I love these! The long exposure photo is nice because while pictures like that have definitely been taken before, the movement in yours keeps it from being cliche and boring. Also, I think you and Amanda have the great same idea for your final project.. I think your strongest work (and the photos you seem to like the most) are the ones with most of the photograph dark and a small amount of light, or a shape, or figure etc. Definitely a good idea for your final!

I like the last picture with the lights. It gives a special atmosphere to the picture. We don't know where we go... you have the lights(which can symbolize the life) but surrounded by the dark (the unknown). I like this idea
